Teaching Kids About Dog Care: How to Effectively Assign Responsibilities?

Wednesday, April 25, 2018

Watching a child grow up with a dog can be incredibly rewarding. It’s a pure love affair as both dogs and kids are almost biologically tuned to care for each other unconditionally. Apart from being your child’s best friend, a pet also teaches your kid about the responsibilities of taking care of other lives. While kids mean well, giving them the entire burden of taking care of a dog is neither fair nor safe. As a responsible parent, you need to delegate pet care chores that kids can perform safely and effectively.

Get the Basics Right Before Bringing Home a Pet

Taking care of a dog is a significant responsibility and it’s too difficult for a young kid to manage single-handedly. You also need to realize is that most children are excited about bringing a dog home and not the associated chores.  If you are contemplating bringing home a puppy you need to honestly evaluate your child’s capabilities. Don’t just give in to your child’s incessant demands or in some cases public tantrums.

The best way forward is to take your child to a local animal shelter, allowing them to volunteer for small tasks. If you think your child is ready to take on the responsibilities you can consider adopting a dog. Thanks to frequent abandonment a lot of dogs end up in the shelters. Due to limited space, many shelter dogs get euthanized. That’s why it’s important to start off on the right foot by adopting dogs from local shelters instead of buying them from puppy mills or pet stores.

Assigning Responsibilities Based on Your Child’s Age

Babies and Toddlers: Children younger than 3 years old often fail to grasp the concept of a pet dog. Most babies and toddlers think of dogs as furry toys. This is the time when you need to supervise and make sure your child is not hurting the dog. Kids at this age have a habit of nibbling and tugging. Make sure your kid is not tugging on the dog’s ear or hugging it too tightly. Simple tasks such as handing out dog treats can be allowed, however, not without supervision.

Ages 3 to 7: Post 3 years old, kids begin to understand that dogs are living and breathing animals and they can get hurt. This is when a child really connects with the dog and is thus a good time to introduce both to games like fetch and hide and seek. After your kid is about 5 years old you can start allowing your child to put out food and water for the dog under your watchful eyes.

Ages 7 to 10: At this point, your kid is fully aware of the basics of pet care, feeding, grooming, and walking. This is the time when you as a parent need to get them habituated to the daily chores of taking care of the pet. For example, when you take your dog for a walk ask your child to come along. Have your kid around during the daily grooming sessions and when administering medications. At about 10 years old, you can start to trust your kid to put out dog food and water. However, ask them to mark a calendar or a chore chart.

Ages 11 to 14: This is the time when your child is ready to do a lot of the pet care tasks unsupervised including grooming and setting out the food and water. Most kids are still not strong enough to take the dog out for walks alone.

Ages 15 and Above: When your kid reaches mid teenage he or she is ready to take on all the tasks. Apart from performing the basic chores such as walking and feeding the pet, older kids can handle bigger responsibilities such as finding pet meds online and administering them.

5 Maintenance Tips For Your Business

Sunday, April 22, 2018

Your business has structures and equipment which it depends on to function smoothly and its success relies heavily on the condition of the two elements. Every now and then, youre bound to find some few things within your business that are off tune and need some maintenance done on them.

Performing maintenance is, therefore, a key aspect of the smooth running of your business. Here are 5 maintenance tips that you can implement in your business:

1.    Perform Systematic Checks On Your Business

Most of the maintenance needs that arise in your business are as a result of ignored minor problems that have built up gradually over time. These problems become noticeable once they have really grown big. For instance, a blocked gutter within your business premises will become noticeable the moment the gutter falls off.

To spot these problems early, you can carry out systematic checks to your business premises to identify any problems and then perform maintenance on the areas with faults. Make a checklist in your business and inspect every single thing and afterward perform an all-round maintenance.

2.    Avoid DIY Maintenance

Most people are accustomed to doing things for themselves more so repairs when an issue arises within their premises and its always effective at the end of the day. But for your business, DIY maintenance is not the best thing to do regardless of whether you have the skill to do it, the reason for this being that it will interfere with your business schedule and consume much of your time.

Time is everything for you as a business owner or manager and spending too much of it on doing maintenance yourself rather than focusing on your core competency will cost you a lot. Consider paying a professional to do the maintenance work for you while you focus on performing your daily business activities and keep the wheels of your business rolling.

3.    Avoid Ignoring Or Postponing Repairs

Ignoring detected problems which need repairs within your business is setting yourself up for unaccounted heavy costs in future. A good rule of thumb is when you do systematic checks on your business premises and equipment and notice any problem that needs maintenance, take action to perform all the vital repairs immediately.

The cost of repair is way much less than the cost of replacement. Repairing a broken gutter in your business premises is much cheaper than replacing it with a new one once its completely damaged if repairs are ignored or postponed. Avoid postponing maintenance needs.

4.    Upgrade Your Business

Believe it or not, one of the most effective maintenance tips for your business is to completely eliminate the need for maintenance in the first place. The only way to do this is to modernize your business by getting rid of the old elements that need constant maintenance done on them and upgrade them with new ones that do not require maintenance.

5.     Maintain A Fresh Environment

The atmosphere of your business matters a lot and such, an important maintenance tip is to ensure that your air conditioning system is in good working condition. Your HVAC unit should be checked regularly. Contracting an expert to do the maintenance for you is an excellent approach.

If you run your business in Sydney Australia, you can consider consulting with Peninsula Air Conditioning Company for the best and most professional air conditioning maintenance and repair services. Check out their website on https://www.penair.com.au/

Our Holy Week 2018

Wednesday, April 18, 2018

Hello everyone!

I know late post again. Ang dami kasing naging ganap and one is my eldest half brother died.

Anyway life goes on. I know he is in the best place where there's no pain and sadness. We gain another angel again.

Well, I am here to share how we spent our Holy Week this year. If you are a regular reader of this blog, maybe you already notice that whenever there's an opportunity to have a long break from work we always choose to spend that with our family.

So just like the previous years, we spend this Holy Week with our family. We started it with attending a mass on Palm Sunday.

Then, we went home on Holy Thursday na. We took the early trip para iwas traffic pero ang dami pa din pala bumibiyahe that early in the morning.

Here with my not so little boy. My grocery buddy, aside from his Dad.

I am here with my sister when we visit our brother on Good Friday. One thing I like talaga is to bond with my siblings.

On Black Saturday, we went to Our Lady of Manaoag. Supposedly, Thursday kami pupunta but because it was so hot we chose not to go. Ayun natuloy naman ng Saturday.

It's been 12 years since our visit here. First time naman ni Matthew.

After hearing a very early mass, we went home na din agad. But of course, souvenir photos muna.

On Easter Sunday, Matthew got a chance to bond with his cousins.

And nephew.

My heart is over flowing with happiness whenever I am with my family.

Before going to Daddy's place, dumaan muna kami dito sa sunflower garden at Central Luzon State University (CLSU), our Alma Mater.

sunflower, sunflower garden, CLSU, Holy Week, summer

There we took many photos of us with the sunflowers.

Ang dami ding dumarayo dito to take selfies, groufies, etc.

So there you go. Simple lang, walang malaking gastos pero busog na busog ang puso namin. We pray, enjoy and love one another, just the way I wanted and just what we need.

Will be sharing more stories pa. Just hang on guys. Until then!

How Can an Employee Heavily Contribute to Creating a Positive Work Environment?

Wednesday, April 11, 2018

Much evidence shows that companies and employees prosper in positive work environments rather than those governed by fear or intimidation. For example, the costs of stress are tremendous and can affect employees’ health and cause them to disengage. However, what can an employee do to contribute significantly to a positive work environment? After all, managers are the ones who set policies and the tone for work culture. Here are some ideas from Beacon Resources, one of the Chicago recruiting firms that specialize in senior accounting jobs.

Give the benefit of the doubt

An important thing is to give your co-workers and managers the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps the boss who just snapped at you is having troubles at home, and the co-worker who is constantly late to work and who always leaves early has worked out a part-time telecommute arrangement due to health reasons.

The reality is that before you can contribute to creating a positive work environment, you have to be a positive person yourself. By giving others the benefit of the doubt, you treat them as you would like to be treated. You will be less likely to resent them or to feel like others are singled out for special treatment.

Identify the negative areas, and work with others to change them

Another step is to pinpoint where critical amounts of stress and tension come from. Is it a particular manager? Is it unrealistic policies and expectations? Is it low pay? Often, there are multiple areas, but for now, pick one to focus on. Think about how you and other employees could change it. For instance, if your issue is with impractical project deadlines, you could research timelines and deadlines for similar projects at other companies and explain in a report why your company is having trouble with them. Solicit ideas and feedback from your co-workers, and you all would ideally band together as a group to present your concerns and solutions to management.

However, if you feel like you might be better off working elsewhere, an executive recruiter with Beacon Resources could be able to help. Get in touch today.

How We Can Improve Our Educational System

Man is a social animal. Without society, we never can think of our existence. And this society is a result of evolution. Education is the most important reason for the evolution of both the individual and society. It relates to the individual with their society. But there are many problems in our current education system. In this article, I tried to outline improvement of our modern education system.

Our education should be based on the foundation of truth and reality. Particularly how it connects to the inter-relation of Mind (which indicates cultural knowledge and truth), Matter (which indicates biological knowledge) and how our bodies are interconnected with other matter and our environment. So, it is an evolutionary or ecological approach to education. For this reason, when we look at the society, we see that schooling is not an island, which is separate from the society but is an integral part of the society.

Education is a process which enables the individual to distinguish between true and false, good and bad, right and wrong. It is a great thinking process. So the purpose of education is to develop the knowledge, skill, or character of students. If the teacher teaches his students according to the interest and mental development of the students, they will like it and will learn it easily. The modern education system does not recommend that the teachers impose upon students their own beliefs about what is, what is wrong and what could be. Here the purpose should be to make awareness or consciousness of learner about the true condition of his life in this society.

The modern education system is very dependent on psychology because educational psychology is the systematic study of the physical growth and mental development of a child. It also gives knowledge about child behavior and solution on the child behavioral problems. This is very necessary for a teacher to teach his students according to their mental abilities. Only educational psychology helps the teacher in doing so. It prepares the teacher to teach where and how? So education and psychology are interdependent. Without the knowledge of educational psychology, a teacher never can be a good teacher.
Today we can say that educational psychology is the foundation of modern education. It affects education in every field of teaching and learning process. It also emphasizes the theory of individual differences, which is most important factors of modern education. That is why different students have many problems in education, society, and emotion. Some students may be introvert, which is harmful to their confidence level.
Moreover, every child has the different mental ability and learns with difference pace. A psychologist provides guidance in such conditions. For this purpose today in many developed countries, child guidance clinics have been opened.
Applied psychology able to change the old concept of education where the only teacher imposes a subject- matter on his students where there are no spontaneous activities of the student. But psychology emphasizes on activity-based teaching process where students also can participate actively.
A child cannot get his complete education by his formal teaching in school only. Teaching can be carried out not only in schools but, within the family which is called home-schooling. Sometimes it may cause conflicts between formal teaching and informal teaching. Outside of the classroom teachers may accompany the student on field trips, can supervise into study halls, the teacher must help with the student organization of school programs and serve as supervisors for extracurricular activities.

So a teacher is not an only professional educationist, his/her work is beyond of such a limit. Now, in modern education, teachers facilitate student learning, often in a school or academy or perhaps in another environment such as outdoors. Moreover, in some education systems teachers may have responsibility for maintaining student's discipline.

One of the most important aims of the education is that to build up the personality of an individual. According to physical growth, mental ability and personality of an individual can be divided into different stages, i.e., Childhood or adulthood, etc. The mental maturity of one stage is very different from another stage. For this reason, psychologists consider that if the teaching process is used according to different stages, then it will be easily learned by students. But these different methods of teaching are used at different stages which is impossible for a teacher without proper knowledge of psychology.
In the ancient age, educational methods were largely informal. It consisted of children imitating or modeling their behavior on that of their elders, learning through observation and play. In this sense, the children were the students, and the elders were the teachers. A teacher used to create the course materials to be taught and then enforced it on the student. But this technique is unscientific. The teacher has to adopt effective ways of explanations.
There are many good options for a teacher when he wants to choose scientific teaching methods. The teachers may write lesson plans of their own, borrow plans from another teacher who can be more experienced or search online or within books for lesson plans. While deciding upon what teaching method to use, a teacher needs to consider students' background knowledge, environment, and learning goals.

The teacher must be aware that students learn in different ways, but almost all children respond to admiration. Students have different ways of getting information and of demonstrating their knowledge. Nowadays teachers often use the modern technique, which satisfies a need to multiple learning styles are used to ensure that all students have the same opportunities to learn.

There are so many teaching methods such as

Demonstration method
Question and answer method
Role plays method
Explain method
Project method

Hence, teaching is an exchange of different views, expressions of thought and overall wisdom between the learners and the teachers.

5 Tips to Investing in Diabetes Supplies

Tuesday, April 10, 2018

Diabetes is a killer disease. After you become positive that you have the disease, then everything changes. You now have to be careful with what you eat, how you live, and so on. You also never predict when your sugar levels go lower or higher than the expected level.

It is therefore wise to put aside some money so that you can buy enough supplies that will help you control blood sugar and insulin levels in your body. Because of the vast number of diabetes supplies in the market today, you will have to consider some factors. Here are some of the points you should put in mind as you purchase these items.

1. Diabetes educators show you how you should use every kit

If you just got the illness, you never know how to take care of your body at first. Most people end up in stressful situations because they lack the right medication and diet. It is therefore essential to get a diabetes educator. They will give you enough tips on how you should store the drugs, use them, and maybe where to buy other supplies when you do not have any.

They will keep a close watch on your progress. In fact, most of them usually do so and even help you administer your first dose.

2. Make a list of all supplies that you require

After you spend enough time with the educator, you should have a list of the most critical medication and tools. Medicine is one of these supplies. Devices such as meters, lancets that you use to draw blood from your fingertips, test strips, tablets for testing glucose, and an emergency alert bracelet, are essential. They all play a part in defending your health.

Ensure that you have sufficient supplies. Always carry some of them as you move from one place to another, when traveling and going to work. They should also not be heavy to carry.

3. Contact a good dealer

As we said earlier, your diabetes educator will provide all the knowledge you require, even regarding the best supplier to trust. Online stores nowadays also give the medication but you can also buy them at physical pharmacies. In the case of online stores, you will have to make orders so that they can ship to you at the right time.

Be sure to consider the cost of every supply. Look for vendors that can give you discounts when you become a frequent buyer.

4. Buy supplies from a reputable brand

Avoid brands that do not have proper reviews or any that you know nothing about. Some of the brands might sell to you unsealed or expired drugs. Find a brand that you love and consistently use their supplies. Therefore, you will avoid problems.
Additionally, pick one that is easy to access. Think of an instance where you are out of your current batch and the suppliers tell you that there are no drugs of that specific brand in the market. The situation can lead to severe problems.

5. Store them properly if you buy a bigger batch

It is advisable to store the medications in a refrigerator if you have more than enough. Be sure to remove them before you inject them into your body. People who have to inject frozen insulin say that the experience is harrowing.

Remove it from the refrigerator long before you use it. You will not feel any pain when you inject it when it is at room temperature. Always listen to your doctor on the best ways to preserve every item you purchase.

Custom Garage Storage Vs Portable Shelving

Organizing your garage can be one of the most daunting tasks to complete. One of the biggest sources for the disorganization within your garage is the clutter that collects on your floor. The best way to combat this natural disorganization is to look up, way up, at the vertical space in your garage. Use this space to maximize every cubic inch of area. In this brief article, we will break down the cost value benefits between custom garage storage vs portable shelving.

Portable Shelving-
this is a cost effective and quick way to solve your storage needs. You can get storage shelves in many different styles to suit your garage. Here are a few types that can help you increase the space within your garage.
  • Door shelving can be used to hang items over the top of a door, allowing you to gain a little more room by taking advantage of that unused space.
  • Hanging shelving and hanging shelves can be placed on a wall, usually by screwing brackets directly into wall studs. The boards of the shelves then rest on or attach to the brackets.
  • Metal shelving is rectangular shaped shelves that have vertical support on all four corners, that also serve as support legs. The solid metal shelves attach to the vertical supports.
  • Wire shelving is similar to metal shelving in design, with thick wires made of metal. Be careful with these shelves as they cannot support small items which may fall through the gaps.
Custom Garage Storage- give one of the largest rooms in your home the ultimate garage makeover. With a proper custom design, you can turn a once disheveled, unorganized storage space into a showroom. All inclusive storage solutions can create three distinct lines of garage storage, along with custom floor and wall organization. This allows you to keep seasonal items close at hand, increase the value of your home by adding extra living and storage space, and eliminate the need for rented storage units. Custom garage services offer a wide variety of additional benefits such as customized cabinets, epoxy/polyurethane flooring, overhead racks, shelving, custom corner cabinets, workbenches, water heater and furnace enclosures, as well as grid storage systems. Custom Garage storage can be costlier and time consuming, compared to portable shelving, but the value added to the home can be immense.

The quality of your garage provides you with the opportunity to have more space, while also increasing the value of your home. Often, your garage is the first room that you see when you come home. Based upon your preference and budget, there are pros and cons to custom garage storage and portable shelving. If you are just starting a family and plan on staying in a home for a long time, perhaps buying portable shelves is a good option. Once you have established yourself as a homeowner, you can invest in the design you prefer. However, if you’re thinking of selling your home sometime soon, you may want to invest in customized garage storage as it can easily up the value of your home.

There you go. I hope this helps you decide what to choose when organizing your garage.

5 Reasons to Get Coolsculpting Done in Sydney

Monday, April 2, 2018

Coolsculpting is a new form of liposuction that destroys fat cells by freezing them to a certain temperature. Its non-invasive and permanent, thats why its taken a storm out of liposuction clinics in Sydney. The procedure follows cryolipolysis using an FDA approved freezing device. By exposing the fat cells to a temperature of 5 to -11 degrees Celsius, the subcutaneous fat tissues undergo apoptosis or cell death. Now, weight loss can be achieved not just by burning fats, but also by cooling them! But how much does coolsculpting cost? Depending on where you live and the clinic of your choice, a session can range from $700 to $2000. Still interested? Here are 5 reasons to get coolsculpting done in Sydney:

health, fitness, liposuction, coolsculpting, fats away

1. Its safe and effective

The process of coolsculpting involves the use of FDA-approved fat freezing technology. It works by targeting stubborn fat cells and crystallizing them through a cryolipolysis machine. The frozen fat cells then die off a natural death by undergoing apoptosis, and then they are eliminated naturally from your body. The remaining fats condense after a few weeks and months from the day of treatment, reducing the layers of fat in your body.

2. Its non-invasive
Whereas liposuction requires you to go under the knife and hours of operation, coolsculpting has none of those hassles. You can even do it on your lunch break because a normal session runs only for an hour. After that youre free to leave and go about your day as usual. Thats right, theres no downtime and recovery required when undergoing coolsculpting. This makes it ideal for people who have no time to spare recovering.

3. The results are gradual

Contrary to other treatments, coolsculpting doesnt offer instant weight loss. You have to wait for the results to show up. After freezing the fat cells, it takes a few weeks to a month for them to completely deteriorate. This results in a gradual, more natural looking weight loss. And while youre waiting for your frozen fat cells to wither and die, its your chance to supplement the treatment by living a healthy and active lifestyle.

4. The results are long lasting

With normal dieting and exercise, you reduce the size of your fat cells by starving them off. But the fact remains that theyre still there, hiding in your abdomen, ready to take in your next slice of pizza. For the most part, people who journey with weight loss are just aiming to shrink the size of their fat cells, theyre not exactly destroying them. Not with coolsculpting. Cryolipolysis ultimately destroys fat cells, not just shrinks them, giving permanent results.

5. It makes you feel more confident

Being slim and healthy gives you a boost of self confidence. You get to wear clothes that are flattering on you, and be complimented for looking so slim. Of course, being fit and healthy doesnt stop at destroying your fat cells. Its a lifestyle you have to have to get used to if you want to keep your figure. Coolsculpting, if you can afford it, is a great jumpstart at becoming healthy, but ultimately its up to you to maintain it.
