Whilst you
won’t want your children getting too attached to technology, there will be
certain benefits they can enjoy from them. Children appropriate technology can
come in different forms, with some of them being explained in the guide below.
Video
Games
You may be
surprised to hear this, but video games for children can hold many educational
values for their development. This is why some schools encourage certain games
to be played both in school and at home. There will be certain downsides, like
addiction, but in general, your children will enjoy benefits from this. They will be able to
develop life skills and practical skills, as well as make social connections.
Video games
can also help boost creativity and promote creativity growth. There will be
some video games that aren’t appropriate, but these will be marked off as age
content, meaning you know how old someone should be before playing this game.
Safety
Devices
Aside from
video games that can help with education and growth, there will be technology
available that helps protect your child. In recent years, technology has
started to be used more for safety means, which is why you see video webcams
available at front doors in recent times, whereas you wouldn’t have been
allowed them previously due to privacy laws.
These door
cameras allow you to keep an eye on who appears at your door at any time of the
day, whether you’re there or not. Whilst it’s unlikely your child will have
access to these door devices, there may be other options that they can use
personally for their safety.
There are kids’ watches with GPS available from COSMO that allows
you to safely track where your child is using an app on your phone. As you can
imagine, this is a great benefit for your entire family that can be useful in
an emergency or just generally trying to find out where they are and why
they’re running late. These watches also allow your child to call or message
you if needed, but won’t have features available on adult smartwatches, as they
would be inappropriate.
Tablets
And Mobile Devices
There are
many reasons as to why you would want to allow your child to use a mobile
device or a conventional tablet. The first is that they can stay in contact
with you when you’re outside of your home which will be a reassurance. However,
these devices also carry several educational benefits. This is why some schools incorporate tablets into
their education, as they realize the benefits they carry and how normal in society they
are.
Video
Applications
There will
also be video applications that you and your children can use for either fun
reasons or education. These apps will allow you to view viral videos or watch
children’s content for free, or find extra content through a premium
subscription.
As with
anything, you will need to ensure that you are acting safe with them, and not
crossing any dangerous lines. Consider installing firewalls and security
measures to prevent certain apps from being used and certain videos from being
watched.
