Our Stay at Best Western Plus Lex Cebu 2019

Before the year ends, let me share our stay at Best Western Plus Lex Cebu during the 34th Philippine Chemistry Congress that we attended last May. Yes, last May pa. This post has been sitting in my draft folder for months na, haha.

Sorry na po, busy lang talaga. Thought of not sharing it but I changed my mind because this post might help someone who is looking for a place to stay in Cebu City.

Before that, let me share these photos of us from the 34th Philippine Chemistry Congress that was held in Waterfront Hotel, Lahug, Cebu City.

So let start with the main topic, shall we? As I was saying, we were booked at Best Western Plus Lex Cebu.

Best Western Plus Lex Cebu is located in the city’s uptown district with close proximity to government offices, medical centers, international hospital, known universities and colleges, shopping centers, IT parks and the city’s prime financial districts. It is just 12 kilometers away or approximately a 30-minute drive from the Mactan Cebu International Airport.

We got the Superior Room.

Best Western Plus Lex Cebu, hotels in Cebu, Superior Room

The Superior Room is about 25 sqm and is good na for a couple with 1 child, I think.

Best Western Plus Lex Cebu, hotels in Cebu, Superior Room

It has a king size bed or you may also request for the twin bed.

Room amenities include 32-inch satellite TV and coffee and tea set

There's also a working desk with lamp.

It has a big mirror also at its small hall way.

You can also use the safety deposit box and hairdryer. Also available is flat iron and its "pakabayo".

This is the bathroom. No bathtub though.

Their grooming kit includes dental kit, shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, soap, shower cap, lotion, comb, shaving kit, cotton, and sewing kit too.

So those are the room amenities. Superior Room also includes free WIFI and breakfast for two.

Here are some of the breakfast that we had.

Aside from the main dishes, they have dessert corner too.

And breads too.

That's our stay at Best Western Plus Lex Cebu. If you will ask me how will a rate it, I will give our stay there a 4/5. The only thing I didn't like is that it's not walking distance to the event venue so we needed to take taxi everyday, which is magastos. Also, there's no nice view from the hotel room because it's in the city so when you open your window curtain, you will only see the nearby buildings and the street.

But overall, I love our stay there. I just failed to take photos of the front or entrance and lobby of the hotel pala. You can visit Best Western Plus Lex Cebu website to see more of the hotel's amenities.

Creative Ways for Kids to be Responsible at Home

As parents, raising children with the right values are essential for their character. Teaching kids the necessary values in life at a young age can be something that will pay off once they live their own lives, which every parent wants for their child.

Patience and understanding play a huge part in teaching these values to children. Although it is a long process, this is something that will pay off even in the long run. Here are some simple activities and tips on how to teach little ones (or not-so-little ones) with being responsible at home.

Get kids involved in the simple tasks at home

Children are very curious at a young age. This would be a good opportunity to educate them on how the day to day household chores work. For example, let them help sweep in the garden or water the plants in the morning. Another way is to ask for their help in preparing the toast when cooking sandwiches for breakfast. Make sure that appliances are kid-friendly and easy to use so they can easily learn and help out.

Using all-in-one appliances like Samsung Smart Oven can make meal preparation times easier. This appliance functions as a convection oven and a microwave that can be used for baking, grilling, slim frying, defrosting, steaming and even making yogurt, making it the perfect cooking appliance. It also has auto cook functions that can easily be navigated by kids when they want to cook simple snacks like french fries, onion rings, and frozen pan pizza.

Creating routines for kids allow them to easily turn basic responsibilities into habits

Creating routines for kids can allow them to easily turn basic responsibilities to be a habit. These habits can make up a child’s character which gives importance to being responsible for one’s self.  For instance, making the bed after waking up, packing their lunch, transferring the leftover food in the refrigerator after dinner, or bringing down laundry hampers from their rooms.
There will always be an instance where one forgets to add last-minute dirty clothes in the washer, but worry not! Samsung Front Load washer has an Add Wash and Eco Bubble technology that lets you add clothes anytime and ensures all is clean with cleansing bubbles that penetrate fabrics faster than concentrated detergent.

Add a fun twist to household chores
Make household chores fun and interesting for children to accomplish! A creative take on this is to create a goal list for children to put fun stickers to after every accomplishment, hamper hoops to encourage kids to not leave the laundry on the floor, or to ask kids to randomly pick popsicle sticks with chores written on them. Since every child is different, feel free to explore different takes that can excite them.
Create a reward system to motivate kids

Incorporating a healthy challenge for children can give them another boost of motivation to be more responsible. For example, if a child finishes his/her homework ahead of time, that can be rewarded accordingly when they request to watch more TV or ask for treats! Another option is to have a tally board to keep track of the children’s conquered challenges. Acknowledging their growth can also be a way to further inspire them to keep being responsible.

Teach your kids to be well-rounded and independent

Everyone has their own way of doing things, and this also applies to children. Teaching your kids different chores (no matter how small) at home will help them develop real-life skills that they can use later on in life. Guiding them with their everyday chores will make your kids feel capable, responsible, and confident. Instilling these values will make them feel part of the team and encourage them to be good citizens.
Samsung Digital Appliances has innovations that help create space that makes it easy for parents to instill the right values at home.

Enjoying the Richness of Flavored Cashew Butter

Cashew butter, Food, health, Cashew nut

Nuts are great for our health. In fact, according to studies, those who add nuts to their meals derive a lot of health benefits. These include better bone and muscle mass as aging occurs, protection against cancer, lower cholesterol levels, and reduced risk of heart disease.

In this article, we want to focus on one nut and that is the one from the cashew fruit.

Cashew Nut

Did you know that the nuts are seeds of the fruit? The nuts grow in the shell that hangs under the fruit. The shell is said to be poisonous, so the extraction process isn’t exactly smooth. To know more about this amazing fruit please read here, as it will help you understand why the butter is all it is acclaimed to be and more.

Cashew Nut Butter

It’s a rich, creamy and spreadable paste made from baked or roasted cashew nuts. It tastes yummy, on apples, toast or plain bread. It also works great with smoothies or straight out of the jar! It’s sure to give a boring meal a makeover.

For better understanding, let’s look at some comparison with traditional butter.

Butter is a dairy product that stays solid when refrigerated, has a spreadable texture at room temperature, and liquid in warm temperature. It is generally eaten as a spread and used in cooking, baking and pan-frying. It can be salted and unsalted. It is usually made from cow’s milk or milk from other mammals. It’s off whitish to pale yellow in color.

Nut butter isn’t dairy and can stay at room temperature. But some of the oil can get separated which isn’t anything to panic about. It is a spread but can be used for some baking and cooking too. It can be raw and salted or flavored as desired. Generally, it is neutral or cream-colored. However when flavored, the color hue can change slightly.

So, cashew nut butter. These have also been around for some time now and are so active in the healthy eats domain. They have so many amazing benefits that will have you wowed. Although we have itemized a few below, you can also watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gf-O5AwwdnA for a detailed video talk on more benefits.

Benefits of Flavored Cashew Nut Butter

Cashew butter, Food, health, Cashew nut

Great for Heart health

A healthy heart keeps you alive. We all want and need our hearts healthy and functioning. Cholesterols, as seen in processed foods, clog the heart, harden arteries, and can lead to heart ailments. It is therefore advisable that you include cashew butter in your diet as it contains the “good fats” (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats). These help fight back on the development of harmful cholesterol.

Prevents Diabetes

Diabetes is epidemic in nature and forces people to live a life full of restrictions. Why wait to treat when you can prevent it? You should include cashew butter into your meals as it helps regulate and control the level of blood sugar and fats. This helps reduce the chances of developing type-2 diabetes.

Abundant Antioxidants

Antioxidants are substances that inhibit oxidation or are capable of counteracting its damaging effects. So what they do is comb through the cell, by neutralizing the free radicals that cause damages. These are like vitamins C, E, and K and they are the most potent ones. They help protect your cells, and guess what? Cashew butter has all these in addition to its disease-fighting, anti-aging, and sickness prevention properties.

Essential Proteins

Even though the protein proportion in cashew butter is a bit low, it has the essentials needed by the body. So, the body absorbs the proteins and break them down into amino acids. This is the type your body can’t make on its own and you must get from foods such as this.

Nutrient-Dense

Our bodies don’t need just any food, but food packed with nutrients to keep us going. This butter happens to have amazing nutrients. Asides proteins and good fats, they have other nutrients like Vitamins B6, folic acid, niacin, magnesium, zinc, riboflavin, oleic acid, calcium, iron, copper, and potassium.

Most stores will carry the original flavor but what then happens to the adventurous taste buds? Thankfully, you can now shop cashew butter  in different flavors that suit you and taste buds. We are talking about flavors like lemon, vanilla, chocolate and many others that are sure to make meal times more exciting.

Are you excited yet? You should! Knowing that you can get the best-flavored cashew butter that’s yummy and healthy in a jar is divine.
