Coronavirus Changes

The hardest part of living through the pandemic is wanting things to go back to normal and knowing, on some level, that they never can. Even if a vaccine were widely available tomorrow, there would be a part of us unable to forget that this happened once before and could happen again at any time. Not every potential pandemic has to be like Covid-19, but in order to ensure that it isn't you will have to make substantial changes across the board.

Perhaps one of the most obvious areas where life has changed because of the pandemic, and will likely continue to be different is entertainment and leisure. Movie theaters, large venues and even food vendors Pittsburgh PA and other cities especially have had to adapt as the pandemic loomed. What changes will need to be permanently implemented in order to keep people safe? It's difficult to say.

Close on the heels of entertainment, people's jobs and livelihoods were broadly affected by the pandemic, and likely will continue to be affected. Will work from home be the standard for most people from here on out? It's hard to say right now.

Education is already becoming a huge part of the national discussion about pandemic safety. As worries about potential superspreader events collide with concerns about equity and access collide, it's hard to say what system will emerge, but it's certain that things are going to change.

The good news is that many of these changes will have great positive benefits in the long run. Schools, work and restaurants will struggle in the short term, but these changes will make people safer and have the potential to make life better, more accessible and more equitable, provided that we handle these changes consciously and carefully. People will make mistakes, of course, but the whole point of mistakes is to learn from them.

Educating Special Needs Children in New Jersey

education, special education, children,

A diagnosis of a learning disability can be devastating for both caregivers and children. It is important to gain as much knowledge as you can and to become an advocate for the child. This is especially true in the realm of education. While there are many programs in place with good intentions, not all of them can and will deliver the services that are needed.

Special Education in New Jersey

New Jersey has special education offices in place to ensure that the federal requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 are fully implemented. Part of its job is to provide school districts with resources, technical assistance, and instructional materials. This aid applies across the spectrum of disabilities, from integrating a school for autistic children Edison NJ to increasing accessibility at a school for deaf children in Ewing NJ.

Learn about the resources that are available to you and your child. Your household can utilize the benefits of assistive technology, math interventions, reading and writing interventions, and a host of other tools. If you feel your child has been overlooked or has not received the services he or she needs, you can contact the Offices of Special Education.

Advocates in New Jersey

If finding your way through the special education maze is difficult or overwhelming, there are advocates who can step in and help. An advocate can help you understand your child's evaluation, locate the right services, and attend any Individualized Education Plan meetings with you. It is often a relief simply to have another adult in the room who can translate any technical jargon for you.

Before you hire an advocate, know what it is you need them to accomplish. Look for someone with strong ties to the school district. Most importantly, choose someone who relates to your child.

3 Ways to Stay on Top of Your Taxes Year-Round

taxes, business, income tax

For most of us, tax season is finally over since all taxes for 2019 were due on July 15, 2020. As you heave a sigh of relief at having successfully filed your various forms, it's time to start thinking about next year's taxes. While you might feel sick at the thought of words like deductibles, tax credits, and adjusted gross income, if you take these steps now, next spring will go much more smoothly for you.

Talk to Professionals

Taxes are not your specialty, but they are one of most accountants' areas of expertise. Through sources such as, find an accountant with whom to review your filing process. Ask him or her for tips on how to improve your record-keeping and save time on next year's taxes. While you must pay this accountant for your meeting, doing so establishes a professional relationship with this person. Hopefully, he or she can help you with your taxes next year.

Keep Good Records

It's tempting to be lazy about filing receipts and recording tax-deductible donations. You think that you'll remember where you donated those 500 dollars now, but come next spring, you'll have completely forgotten. Save yourself a million headaches by keeping all your receipts until you note the cost of your purchase or donation, the date, and the company in a secure location. Check out the various apps for financial record-keeping on your smartphone's app store, or use a notebook if you prefer to write down your financial information.

Save Your Tax Forms

As tax season approaches, your company sends you forms with information about your salary, taxes paid, and taxes due. Even if these forms are also available online, do not throw them away. Keep them all in a clearly-labeled folder, and take pictures or scan them to be extra safe. Watch out for tax forms that your business may release in the middle of the year if your employment status or address changes. Remember, you need a form from each of your workplaces, so if you have multiple part time jobs, you can't complete your taxes without information from each one.

Right now, all you want to do is forget about taxes until next spring. While this approach is tempting, force yourself to be proactive about taxes all year. This strategy requires more thought, but when you file taxes like a pro next spring, you'll be glad that you took the time to stay on top of your financial information.

Most Commonly Abused Drugs in Colorado

Compared to the national average, the rate of alcohol and drug use in the United States is exceptionally high. Colorado is also an equal-opportunity consumer of drugs and alcohol. While certain substances tend to be more or less common in various states, people in Colorado abuse different classes of drugs almost equally.

Most Commonly Abused Drugs, Colorado, drugs, health

People with substance use disorder or addiction can benefit from drug rehab Denver. However, the treatment strategy may depend somewhat upon the substance involved. Here are some of the most commonly abused drugs in Colorado.

Along with Washington, Colorado was one of the first states to legalize recreational marijuana in 2012, so it is perhaps not surprising that marijuana use is so prevalent there. Colorado's rate of monthly marijuana use ranks second in the nation and involves at least half a million Coloradans.

Methamphetamine is an extremely dangerous stimulant drug. Prolonged use can produce marked physical and psychological changes. With the exception of marijuana, methamphetamine is responsible for more primary treatment admissions than any other drug in Colorado. It is the third most-abused substance in the state.

Heroin is an illegal opioid with a high abuse potential and no accepted medical use. However, many opioids are prescription painkillers available on a limited basis to people with a legitimate medical reason for taking them. Many people who become addicted to opioids first started taking them because they were prescribed by a physician. When substance use results in a person's death, opioids are a likely cause.

Like methamphetamine, cocaine is a stimulant drug with similar effects. Like opioids, it is likely to be the cause of death in a drug overdose. Cocaine abuse is still common in Colorado despite a decline in use over the last decade or so.

Despite the prevalence of illicit drugs, the most abused substance in Colorado is still alcohol. The fact that alcohol is legal for adults to obtain and consume, and often fairly easy for underage teens to do so as well, may account for this. Approximately 353,000 people 12 years old and over in Colorado, about 8.4%, reported alcohol abuse in a study conducted between 2009 and 2013. Among those legally able to drink, 7.4% reported heavy drinking within the preceding year. This percentage represents about 268,000 Colorado residents and is higher than the national average of 6.8% during the same time frame.

People who enter treatment for substance use in Colorado are more likely to have a problem with both alcohol and drugs compared to those treated for drugs alone or alcohol alone.

2. It Can Introduce the Latest Technology to Your Office

There are always new instruments and gadgets that make the process of dentistry easier. You can increase efficiency in your practice by using the right kind of technology. Staff should be well-trained on how to use the office's equipment so that everything can run smoothly throughout the day.

When you make an effort to stay abreast of the latest research and techniques, you can be sure that you are giving the best possible care to your patients.

Pregnancy Acne and Natural Options for Treatment

One of visible pregnancy symptoms is acne. Many women experience acne during the first and second trimesters.

Pregnancy Acne, Natural Options for Treatment
There are two major factors responsible for pregnancy acne. The primary cause is the increased hormone levels in the first trimester. A hormone called progesterone, which is responsible for helping create an ideal environment for s fetus, causes the glands in your skin to produce more oil called sebum. Because progesterone surges during pregnancy, the excess sebum can clog pores  leading to a build up of bacteria.

The second factor responsible for pregnancy acne is your body's tendency to retain more fluids to accommodate the growing fetus. However, because your body is releasing less fluid that contains toxin, your body may try to rid itself of toxin through your sweat and skin. This causes the toxin to build up in your pores that can lead to acne.

Managing acne when you're pregnant can be difficult because many prescription and over-the-counter medications come with a high risk of birth defects. That's why if you have pregnancy acne and wish to treat it, always talk to your prenatal care provider first.

Since it is not safe to take acne medications, you may prefer to try more natural options for treatment. Here are a few ways you can try to reduce acne:

Clean your face twice daily

Prevent flare-ups by taking good care of your skin during pregnancy. Use mild, soap-free cleanser twice a day, in the morning and at night. Make sure to wash and rinse thoroughly. Don't scrub too hard to avoid skin irritation that can worsen acne. Also, wash your hair regularly and keep your towel, pillow cases or hats you use clean as well.

Keep your skin moisture

Moisture your skin with oil-free moisturizer to minimize irritation. Also, an overly-dried skin is more prone to acne.

Drink lots of water to flush out toxins

Drinking plenty of water helps flush out your skin, keeping it moist and clearer. Drink at least eight glasses of water each day.

Increase your dietary intake of vitamin A

Vitamin A rich food

Increase the amount of vitamin A, which helps keep skin healthy. Vitamin A helps reduce the amount of sebum your skin produces that can help prevent your pores from clogging. Foods high in vitamin A include eggs, fish, and carrots, and milk.  However, although vitamin A can improve your skin, it can also be dangerous for pregnant women in high amounts. It is better to talk to your prenatal care provider about how to strike the right balance of vitamin A in your diet.

Eat smart

Cut out sugar and refined grains in your diet. Also, avoid eating unhealthy fats, those saturated fats found in fried foods and many baked goods. These can worsen acne, so it s better to replace these with skin-boosting healthy fats like avocado, salmon, walnuts, and almonds. Eat more skin-friendly foods like colorful fresh fruits and vegetables and, small amounts of dark chocolate. But just eat chocolate in moderation because it contains caffeine.

Buy oil-free skin care products

Look for skin care, makeup, and even hair care products, which are oil-free and are labeled non-comedogenic or non-acnegenic (won't cause pimples or acne). Oil-free moisturizers, make up and matte powder like pressed banana powder are good buys as well to help you conceal those unpleasant acne.

-Matte eyeshadow

Consult your practitioner

When worse gets worst, talk to your practitioner who can recommend tropical acne treatment safe for pregnant women.

Those are ways to manage and treat pregnancy acne. Remember these stubborn acne will go away so don't stressed your self Mama!
