4 Things To Consider When Making a Career Change

Are you thinking of making a career change? You're not alone in this. Many people are not only changing jobs but also going in different career directions in their quest for a more fulfilling life. Granted, it's a big decision; one that has major consequences. It can be helpful, though, to think of it in terms of challenge, not fear. Read on for several important things to consider.

1. Your Interests

This might seem obvious, but a large percentage of people stay in careers that have nothing to do with their interests. Now is the time to take a good look at what your interests truly are, and move closer to them. Do you love being outdoors? Make that one of your job requirements. Are you fascinated with the beauty industry? Try a search using terms such as microblading Long Island NY to find useful information.

2. Your Temperament

A career search is a perfect time to take stock of your temperament to find a job that's well-suited for you. Did you find the human contact excessive in your prior job? Check out remote work options. Do you work well independently? Look for a supervisor who doesn't micromanage. Do you look forward to talking with co-workers? Focus on jobs that involve more on-the-job interaction.

3. Your Lifestyle

You might be a parent or a soon-to-be-retiree who wants a flexible schedule. What about hours? Your natural biological clock and the traffic/public transportation situation may play a big role in the type of career you seek.

4. Your Vocation

Vocation has to do with the intersection between the needs of a community or company and the special gifts you have to offer. The more overlap, the more satisfaction you and your employer will experience.
Making a successful career change requires keen self-awareness. Keep these factors in mind as you make your plan.

For those with a sweet tooth, a supply of sweets will be sure to express your gratitude. Whether you bring in homemade desserts or save yourself some time with cookie platters Schaumburg, sweet treats are sure to supply some smiles.

Scrumptious Snacks

For those whose palates prefer saltier and more savory foods, offering scrumptious snack options can be a wonderful surprise. Whether you surprise the team with savory pretzels, homemade trail mix or a spread of savory appetizers, there are numerous mouthwatering options.

Healthy Hankering

When your team grows tired of unhealthy foods or when you want to shake things up, consider satiating that healthy hankering with more health-conscious snacks. There are plenty of delicious options out there that can help your team stay energized even when you take a healthier route.

Fancy Fruit

If you want to diversify your healthy snacks, supply the team with some fancy fruit. Nature’s sweetness will be sure to brighten everyone’s day with natural sugar and delectable flavors. With subscription services and higher-end suppliers, it will be easy to transport fancy fruit to the office.

Complimentary Caffeine

If your team is team is like many other working professionals who enjoy their caffeinated beverages, consider surprising them with upscale options or a wider selection for the day. Savoring a delicious, caffeinated beverage can help them stay alert and shake up a boring routine.

When you want to offer a small gesture of appreciation to your team, food is always a great option; however, these more creative options help keep this gesture from going stale.

Our Stay at Best Western Plus Lex Cebu 2019

Before the year ends, let me share our stay at Best Western Plus Lex Cebu during the 34th Philippine Chemistry Congress that we attended last May. Yes, last May pa. This post has been sitting in my draft folder for months na, haha.

Sorry na po, busy lang talaga. Thought of not sharing it but I changed my mind because this post might help someone who is looking for a place to stay in Cebu City.

Before that, let me share these photos of us from the 34th Philippine Chemistry Congress that was held in Waterfront Hotel, Lahug, Cebu City.

So let start with the main topic, shall we? As I was saying, we were booked at Best Western Plus Lex Cebu.

Best Western Plus Lex Cebu is located in the city’s uptown district with close proximity to government offices, medical centers, international hospital, known universities and colleges, shopping centers, IT parks and the city’s prime financial districts. It is just 12 kilometers away or approximately a 30-minute drive from the Mactan Cebu International Airport.

We got the Superior Room.

The Superior Room is about 25 sqm and is good na for a couple with 1 child, I think.

It has a king size bed or you may also request for the twin bed.

Room amenities include 32-inch satellite TV and coffee and tea set

There's also a working desk with lamp.

It has a big mirror also at its small hall way.

You can also use the safety deposit box and hairdryer. Also available is flat iron and its "pakabayo".

This is the bathroom. No bathtub though.

Their grooming kit includes dental kit, shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, soap, shower cap, lotion, comb, shaving kit, cotton, and sewing kit too.

So those are the room amenities. Superior Room also includes free WIFI and breakfast for two.

Here are some of the breakfast that we had.

Aside from the main dishes, they have dessert corner too.

And breads too.

That's our stay at Best Western Plus Lex Cebu. If you will ask me how will a rate it, I will give our stay there a 4/5. The only thing I didn't like is that it's not walking distance to the event venue so we needed to take taxi everyday, which is magastos. Also, there's no nice view from the hotel room because it's in the city so when you open your window curtain, you will only see the nearby buildings and the street.

But overall, I love our stay there. I just failed to take photos of the front or entrance and lobby of the hotel pala. You can visit Best Western Plus Lex Cebu website to see more of the hotel's amenities.

34th Philippine Chemistry Congress in Cebu

Two months ago, Daddy A and I attended the 34th Philippine Chemistry Congress in Cebu. If you still don't know, both of us are Licensed Chemist.

Actually we don't regularly attend Chemistry Congress until the Chemistry Profession Act (RA 10657) came, haha. You know the CPD  (Continuing Professional Development) points? For Chemist, we need atleast 45 CPD points to renew our PRC License. But I heard that it's not yet implemented until after 2020 so renew your PRC License na.

Anyway, back to the real topic. We went to Cebu a day before the congress. We had to commute since we chose not to bring a car so we travelled light lang and hand carry na lang din. It's our first time to try the Point to Point bus from Sta. Maria to Trinoma.

Medyo matagal lang nag-antay and sobrang traffic as usual at Bocaue exit. Then since our boarding time is at 4:00 pm, we needed to be at airport at 2:00pm. Dahil traffic sa EDSA, we rode MRT again after so many years, from North to Taft. Then pagbaba ng MRT Taft station, there you can find the shuttle bus going to the NAIA.

We were at the airport before 2:00 pm. Ang hirap magcommute, haha. We just ate our lunch there and we waited for the departure time. Luckily, our flight is not delayed.

We arrived at the Mactan Cebu International Airport at 6:00 PM.

We took the bus shuttle to SM Cebu. We just ate dinner and from there we took a taxi to our booked hotel, Best Western Plus Lex Cebu.

Our room at Best Western Plus Lex Cebu was nice. Pasilip muna and I'll share with you more of it in a separate post.

The 34th Philippine Chemistry Congress was held in Waterfront Hotel, Lahug, Cebu City.

We were so excited to meet our former classmates and our fellow Chemists and Chemical Technicians.

When the crowd disappeared I asked Daddy A to took photos here.

Going back to the 34th PCC, we went to different plenary and parallel sessions related or relevant to the industry we are into.

Aside from the CPD points that we gained, we also acquired learning and updates that are important in our field.

Of course, we are happy to meet our former classmates.

We also got a chance to meet our former mentor and Ninang.

And another very good mentor.

Oh by the way, I would like to introduce the amazing (amazing talaga? haha!) Chemists and Chemical Technician of Bounty Fresh Food, Inc.

The truth is, we didn't get a chance to tour in Cebu.

Except for the 10-minute walk from Waterfront Hotel to Cebu Business Park.

Medyo maaga kasi for our dinner at Isla Sugbu Seafood City so we went muna sa Cebu Business Park. Nagwalking na lang at mahal ang taxi fare, haha.

Yup, we mostly rode taxi from our hotel to the events place because it's out of the jeep route.

Anyway, Cebu Business Park is clean and fresh looking.

Pero kami hindi na fresh looking dahil sa usok at alikabok sa paglalakad namin, haha!

The 3-day event went fast at syempre excited na kami umuwi. Yun nga lang wala ng side tour but it's okay kasi iba pa din ang comfort ng aming home sweet home.

Oopps, did I already mentioned that it was Daddy A's first airplane ride? Truth!

We arrived at Manila lunch time na. Natagalan kami kasi hindi na namin nahand carry ang aming baggage. May nagmomonitor ng weight bago pumasok sa boarding area ng Mactan Cebu Airport. So ending nga nagcheck-in kami ng baggage so ayan mga 30 minutes kami nag-antay sa baggage carousel.

Looking forward to 35th Philippine Chemistry Congress in Bacolod next year!

Year End Dinner at NIU by Vikings

Before 2018 ended, our big bosses treated us at NIU by Vikings at SM Aura.

Food, buffet, NIU by Vikings, SM Aura, work, dinner, Christmas,

NIU by Vikings has a wide variety of dishes. Just like our The Spiral Buffet at Sofitel Manila experience, we didn't know where to start.

Anyway, let me just share some of the photos of dishes I was able to capture that night.

I was a bit shocked with the variety of deserts and cakes that NIU by Vikings offer. There are halo-halo, ice cream and kakanin pa on the other side. It was a festival of food. Super busog kami.

Lastly, this was the only group photo I grabbed from a colleague's FB.

Let me just thank our generous bosses. Thank you for the opportunity and trust you have given us. Cheers to another bountiful year!
