How We Can Improve Our Educational System

Man is a social animal. Without society, we never can think of our existence. And this society is a result of evolution. Education is the most important reason for the evolution of both the individual and society. It relates to the individual with their society. But there are many problems in our current education system. In this article, I tried to outline improvement of our modern education system.

Our education should be based on the foundation of truth and reality. Particularly how it connects to the inter-relation of Mind (which indicates cultural knowledge and truth), Matter (which indicates biological knowledge) and how our bodies are interconnected with other matter and our environment. So, it is an evolutionary or ecological approach to education. For this reason, when we look at the society, we see that schooling is not an island, which is separate from the society but is an integral part of the society.

Education is a process which enables the individual to distinguish between true and false, good and bad, right and wrong. It is a great thinking process. So the purpose of education is to develop the knowledge, skill, or character of students. If the teacher teaches his students according to the interest and mental development of the students, they will like it and will learn it easily. The modern education system does not recommend that the teachers impose upon students their own beliefs about what is, what is wrong and what could be. Here the purpose should be to make awareness or consciousness of learner about the true condition of his life in this society.

The modern education system is very dependent on psychology because educational psychology is the systematic study of the physical growth and mental development of a child. It also gives knowledge about child behavior and solution on the child behavioral problems. This is very necessary for a teacher to teach his students according to their mental abilities. Only educational psychology helps the teacher in doing so. It prepares the teacher to teach where and how? So education and psychology are interdependent. Without the knowledge of educational psychology, a teacher never can be a good teacher.
Today we can say that educational psychology is the foundation of modern education. It affects education in every field of teaching and learning process. It also emphasizes the theory of individual differences, which is most important factors of modern education. That is why different students have many problems in education, society, and emotion. Some students may be introvert, which is harmful to their confidence level.
Moreover, every child has the different mental ability and learns with difference pace. A psychologist provides guidance in such conditions. For this purpose today in many developed countries, child guidance clinics have been opened.
Applied psychology able to change the old concept of education where the only teacher imposes a subject- matter on his students where there are no spontaneous activities of the student. But psychology emphasizes on activity-based teaching process where students also can participate actively.
A child cannot get his complete education by his formal teaching in school only. Teaching can be carried out not only in schools but, within the family which is called home-schooling. Sometimes it may cause conflicts between formal teaching and informal teaching. Outside of the classroom teachers may accompany the student on field trips, can supervise into study halls, the teacher must help with the student organization of school programs and serve as supervisors for extracurricular activities.

So a teacher is not an only professional educationist, his/her work is beyond of such a limit. Now, in modern education, teachers facilitate student learning, often in a school or academy or perhaps in another environment such as outdoors. Moreover, in some education systems teachers may have responsibility for maintaining student's discipline.

One of the most important aims of the education is that to build up the personality of an individual. According to physical growth, mental ability and personality of an individual can be divided into different stages, i.e., Childhood or adulthood, etc. The mental maturity of one stage is very different from another stage. For this reason, psychologists consider that if the teaching process is used according to different stages, then it will be easily learned by students. But these different methods of teaching are used at different stages which is impossible for a teacher without proper knowledge of psychology.
In the ancient age, educational methods were largely informal. It consisted of children imitating or modeling their behavior on that of their elders, learning through observation and play. In this sense, the children were the students, and the elders were the teachers. A teacher used to create the course materials to be taught and then enforced it on the student. But this technique is unscientific. The teacher has to adopt effective ways of explanations.
There are many good options for a teacher when he wants to choose scientific teaching methods. The teachers may write lesson plans of their own, borrow plans from another teacher who can be more experienced or search online or within books for lesson plans. While deciding upon what teaching method to use, a teacher needs to consider students' background knowledge, environment, and learning goals.

The teacher must be aware that students learn in different ways, but almost all children respond to admiration. Students have different ways of getting information and of demonstrating their knowledge. Nowadays teachers often use the modern technique, which satisfies a need to multiple learning styles are used to ensure that all students have the same opportunities to learn.

There are so many teaching methods such as

Demonstration method
Question and answer method
Role plays method
Explain method
Project method

Hence, teaching is an exchange of different views, expressions of thought and overall wisdom between the learners and the teachers.
