Easy Ways To Keep in Touch With Loved Ones

Caitlin Ochs/Reuters

Do you love talking to your mom but aren't always happy with the hours spent on the phone? Sometimes you just don't have the time to devote to extended conversations, but that doesn't mean you want to completely cut off all communications. Here are some easy ways to keep in touch with your loved ones when you don't have a lot of extra time.

Greeting Cards

Nothing lights up someone's day better than unexpectedly receiving a card in the mail. You could choose a silly card and write a note letting the person know how much you love them, or you could choose something a bit more serious that expresses how you feel. No matter which you choose, greeting cards are an easy and affordable way to stay in touch.

Texting

Sometimes a simple text asking how someone is doing can make a world of difference in their day. Sending a quick text takes almost no time, so you could do it while you're waiting for a meeting or are walking to your office. Then, you can respond when you have another few minutes free. If you want to avoid having the other person waiting on you, let them know you won't be able to respond right away, but you will when you can.

Video Messaging Apps

Many popular apps allow you to send messages to your loved ones, and they watch them when they can. These apps are especially popular because you can see the person you're talking to and say more than you usually would in a text. Video messaging apps are also an excellent way to share what is going on in your life. You can take videos of the kids or garden, and you don't have to worry about having enough available space on your phone to store a video. The apps store your videos in their files, so they don't take up your available space.
