Mother's Day 2020 ECQ Edition

Because of the health pandemic we are facing now, most of the celebrations are done in the Enhanced Community Quarantine way.

Just like my 39th birthday, we celebrated Mother's Day 2020 at home.

Daddy A bought a cake from Bread Talk because I was craving for black forest cake.

cake, Bread Talk

Unfortunately, since I am still having morning sickness, I didn't enjoy eating the cake. But I can't be happier, because our son is with us already.

Daddy fetched him the day before Mother's Day. Naaawa na siya siguro sa akin because I kept saying "sana andito anak natin." Biglang nawala yung hilo and discomfort I am feeling because my son is with us na. Hindi na ko masyadong nag-aalala.

When he woke up that morning, he went straight to me and said "Mommy two times ka pala nagcecelebrate ng birthday mo, e. Happy Mother's Day!" He kissed and hugged me, and my heart melts.

I was also happy because of the food daddy brought from Nueva Ecija.

Cravings satisfied na naman.

By the way, I also started to do the 10-minute yoga for pregnant woman.

It feels so good after. Grabe makapawis.

For lunch, I cooked Chicken Arroz Valenciana.

Arroz Valenciana

I have been craving for it, yun lang nasuya ata ako. Haha!

As I have said, this pregnancy is more difficult than my first because of the morning sickness I am experiencing. But nevertheless, I feel so blessed because we are now complete.

To all the mommas, Happy Mother's Day. One day is not enough to celebrate your greatness. Let everyday be our day.

Mother's Day 2019

I know, it's almost 2 months na after the Mother's Day. But as I always say, it's better late than never, haha.

Seriously, I have so many stories to tell na minsan nakakalimutan na kasi super busy but I will not let this passed. So let me share lang our Mother's Day kwento.

Before Mother's Day, we had a simple dinner.

We actually went to the grocery because the nest day, which is Mother's Day, we needed to bring Matthew to our in-laws at wala kami kasama sa bahay.

After our grocery, we had our picture taken here sa Mother's Day booth ng Walter Mart.
Walter Mart

Walter Mart has a special promo with minimum purchase yata ng 1,000 pesos (not sure though kasi matagal na, haha) you will get a I❤Mom mug with your printed photo.

Walter Mart, I love mug

As I said, we needed to bring Matthew to our in-laws again because we have no househelp and we have a trip to Cebu for the Philippine Chemistry Congress. Early that Mother's Day morning, we went to Nueva Ecija.

Doon na syempre kami nagbreakfast since our little boy slept throughout the trip. Comfy na comfy sya na nakahiga inside our van. That's one of the reasons why we chose a van as our family vehicle.

We decided not to go out anymore because we knew na restaurants and food chains will be jam packed on that day. So we had lunch at Daddy's home too.

I don't know what kind of fish was that but it looked like tuna. We just grilled it. Masarap naman.

Then after lunch syempre siesta na so we slept until 4 in the afternoon yata. We went to Nanay's place kasi sakto hindi na ganun kainit. I missed her terribly in occasions like this. So if you still have your mom, you are very lucky. Take care and love them the best that you can.

Dahil pinanindigan na namin ang hindi paglabas, we had our dinner at home with Daddy A's sister and her family.

No cake kasi naubos na daw sa Red Ribbon.

The best part is this. Haha. Just kidding! I didn't expect anything that day but Daddy A gave me this perfume.

Matthew naman gave me this. Sabi nya bili daw ako ng gusto ko and iawas daw sa savings nya. He also said when he finished his studies and have work, he will buy me all the shoes I want. I am speechless, he loves mommy so much!

Parisian, Sandals, SM

My little boy is so thoughtful, he also gifted her lola a Maybelline  lipstick.

Maybelline, Matte Lipstick

And this is my gift to my self. Mura lang yan pero ang cute e.

By the way, that day, we also cooked sauteed alamang or shrimp paste. Yes, we are selling alamang too. Kumikitang kabuhayan lang, hehe.

Sauteed Alamang, Shrimp Paste

Seriously, Daddy A and I are exploring all the options of earning money, be it passive. If you are reading my post regularly, we can't find a house help. Not that really but my son refuses to hire a house help. That's another story to tell and one day I will share how we are surviving the no househelp set up.

So that's for more now, next kwento ko Father's Day and Matthew's 9th birthday naman. Stay tune lang ha.

Happy Mother's Day 2018

Mother's day is one of special day that I love to celebrate with my family. Since Matthew was still with my in-laws that time, we went home to be with him.

On Mother's day, my two boys gave me this chocolates. Matthew also gave one to my mother-in-law.

As usual, a simple celebration with a family is enough for me. We woke early to start this special day. This is our special breakfast.

I cooked fried egg, Bounty chicken nuggets and skinless longaniza.

This is for our little boy who wanted a "chow fan" meal with toppings.

Then before we went to Church, our little boy requested to spend a few minutes in his little pool. He love his new pool so much (Read also: My Blessed 37th Year).

After hearing a mass, we went to the nearest mall to run some errands.

Because it's Mother day, we took photo here.

We had our simple lunch at his favorite fast food. Any guess? Haha.

Seeing this little boy so happy is more than enough gift for me.

Daddy bought me a cake too, by the way.

And when we were back at home, he's back on his pool too.

Oh, how I love spending time with my family. Being with them, makes my stress and worries away. So I make sure I give the best family care they deserve.

That's it.

Do you also love simple celebration with your family?

A Mother's Love is More Than Enough

I was browsing my Facebook feeds last night when I saw this very touching video:

FERN-C kidz released this Mother’s Day video as a tribute to moms. This Mother's Day video made me feel as if I am one of them sharing my own experiences and struggles as a mother#KalidadNaAlaga

Being a working mom for 7 years now, I can say that the struggle and mommy guilt are so real. I have to balance my time for my work and my family. Especially now that I have a grade-schooler, my job is more challenging. I can relate with one of the mom who said she has an independent daughter who can do school work on  her own.

My son is very independent and wants to do things on his own except when making assignments and reviewing his lessons. I remember one time I told him to do his assignments and read his lessons for the next day because I will go home late. When I got home he didn't do what I told him to do. I asked him why, he said "Kasi po Mommy wala pa kayo. Paano macheck assignment ko." Right there and then, he pulled his big bag and one by one he took out his books and notebooks. Without any words, he did his assignments and again told me, "Sige Mommy kaya ko na po ito, pacheck ko na lang mamaya."

Naguilty ako. My presence matters to him a lot pala. But you know what I am so guilty of? It's that I can't give him my whole time every time he needs me. I am working eh and it's all for him naman. I know he understands that pretty well. He will often ask me how's my work and he will tell me "I want to be a Chemist like you and Dad."

I know my son loves me because he often tells me that. He is very vocal and appreciative. He will tell me out of the blue phrases like, "Mommy ang ganda mo." That will make me smile, a big smile that is. But you know, it's not always love that he feels towards me.

One time while I was ironing our clothes, he told me "Mommy, hindi para syo yun cookies. Hindi ka good mom." He's referring to a cookie commercial he just watched. I was stunned and I asked him to repeat what he just said. I asked him why he thinks I am not a good mom. Sabi nya kasi daw nasasaktan ko sya physically at times when I really lost my temper.

I cried my heart out while he was so quiet. I talked to him and explained to him that what I did was just to discipline him whenever he's out of control. And that hurting him was the last thing I want to do. He then hugged me tight and told me while crying, "Mommy, sorry. I love you. Good mom ka naman po."

Those are just few of many experiences I had being a mother. Being a mother is not an easy job yet it's a very rewarding one. Because your reward is your kid's love, their hugs and their kisses. I know many moms like me think that our best is always not enough. But for our kids it's actually more than enough.

Always remember that for our kids our love is like nothing else in this world. For them, a mother's love is always more than enough.

Press Release: The Life and Times of a Mommy Blogger

An empowered woman shares the importance of forging the right partnerships in the internet age.

Ay super relate ako dito. Moms are superwoman especially to our kids. We must not get sick or get tired. But we are only humans and we need help at times. That's why choosing the right partners in our daily life is very important. Good thing I have my best partner in life, Daddy A.

Read through to discover more about finding the right partnership in this high technology age.

The famous poet John Donne was onto something when he wrote, “No man is an island”. We all need a helping hand sometimes to deal with the pressing demands of life. Whether at work or at home, effective partnerships comes in many shapes, faces, and forms.

A ray of sunshine. A radiant and cheerful Ruth Floresca has always believed that words are powerful and weaving them together creates an impact in people’s lives.
For Ruth Floresca, a professional writer, wife, and mother of four kids, “Being a mom to four sons is no small feat. It’s very much like working in an office where you need to ensure that things run smoothly all the time. I’m glad I have a partner in my husband Noy, whom I can trust and rely on for anything,” Ruth shares.

It wasn’t always this way. Ruth was used to being the independent woman, working as a professional writer for 20 years. But inasmuch as she enjoyed her work, she and her foremost partner decided that it would be best for her give up her full time job so she could pay attention to her youngest son, James, who has special needs.

But because Ruth was not ready to let go of her passion for writing, she turned to the internet to share her thoughts and passion for research. “Because I want James to have the best care in the world, I spend a lot of time finding the right partners for our everyday needs. Sanicare’s paraben-free Baby and Cleansing wipes, for example, gives me peace of mind because I am wary of chemicals like parabens which have been linked to the development of various diseases from cancer to other developmental conditions. I knew that there were other moms who were also looking for products they could trust for their family’s needs so I decided to write about my experience with the product on my blog.”

Sanicare Wipes come in two variants: the Sanicare Cleansing Wipes and the Sanicare Baby Wipes. These wipes are guaranteed soft, strong, and free from alcohol and parabens. Both brands are perfect for newborn babies and even adults. The soft and cloth-like texture helps with tough cleanups to ensure all-around protection from germs whether at home or outdoors.
As a newly minted blogger, Ruth was surprised that sharing her personal experiences as a working mom would resonate so effectively with an audience of like-minded and internet savvy mothers like her. Her blog mommywrites.blogspot.com has an average of 5,000 views per week. This represents a growing base of working women who have found that her writing speaks to their own experiences as mothers juggling their careers in this modern world.

“I didn’t expect to have so many partners in my daily life. I used to think being an empowered modern woman meant that you’d have to be efficient at doing things on your own. But experience has taught me that it’s more important to learn to find the right partners in life. I’m lucky to have found that in my husband, my blogging community, and in the brands I find and come to rely on which I share to help other mothers deal with their own everyday problems. It’s come full circle,” Ruth concludes.
